So, here’s the thing - my parents are awesome and probably more awesome than yours.
My parents had their 40th wedding anniversary this year and amongst all the celebrating they decided to take a year off to travel. Like a Gap year, or that time you take to go backpacking between college and your first job. Except they’re, you know, not as young as exactly that.
They have rented out our house, packed up all their stuff, quit various jobs and hit the road for a year.
Their travel plan involves, flying to Hong Kong, then Amsterdam and now driving around Scandinavia, down through Eastern Europe to Turkey. Then they’re going to rock over to South America and splash about there for a while. THEN, they’re going to drive from Texas to Canada and toodle around there for a bit.
Sound magical? It is.
So many of the friends/ colleagues/ strangers I have told about this trip have responded “I wish I was them” and it’s true, this is an enviable year for anyone, and everyone is fascinated by them having the motivation to go live their dream.
Because they are so ace, they have started a tumblr for their friends and fam to keep up with their travels. If you are at all interested in giant cheese rooms or ridiculous sports cars, you should take a look.
